DP William Ruto is a public figure all thanks to his position and power. He is well known for counterattacking the opposition party and working hand in hand with president Uhuru Kenyatta in reign forcing his political ambitions in the coming elections. Despite being a popular person and visible leader worth noting, he has had his fair share of being trolled and fired salvos at by the public.
1. Garissa county.
If these people were to vote for him, he would receive just a handful of votes. Late last year he had gone to launch his projects in Garissa county only to be booed at by an angry youth who had come forth to witness his political strategies. This northern part of Kenya showed a displeasure in Ruto.
2. Mombasa county.
Well in Governor Hassan Joho’s territory, you don’t go remarking things that will provoke the public. Hardly had he spoken than the youth started chanting Joho’s name. They took shirts branded with the ‘tuko pamoja’ slogan and tore them into pieces. It’s clear they detest him.
3. Meru county.
Sometime back when Ruto attended a fundraising at Kaare Secondary School, he remarked that the government recognizes Chuka as the headquarters of the county rather than Kathwana.The crowd was angry, and they carried placards of Raila Odinga promising to vote for Raila in 2017 cause the Jubilee government has abandoned them.
4. Kakamega county.
Ruto was booed at in the presence of the president in the burial ceremony of minister Soita Shitanda. This was after Ruto tried to counter the Kakamega governor Bonnie Khalwale in his home ground, which according to Atwoli was a disrespect of the Luhya community.
5. Kericho county.
He received a hostile reception in Kericho where South Rift leaders accused him of abandoning the region after Jubilee ascended to power. At Lelu primary school where he had gone to campaign for JAP candidate, the crowd turned hostile and sang KANU songs raising the one famous finger chanting ‘Jogoo’.
Others are Narok , Turkana, Nyandarua and Luo Nyanza Counties.
