One of the cheapest ways of travelling a long distance in Kenya is via Matatus. Currently, there are matatus that reach all the major towns all across the country. You might need to connect with town service matatus in order to get to your exact location, but for the most part, long-distance matatus do the trick. Here are some matatu groups to consider when travelling far distances from Nakuru.
2NK
The 2NK matatu group is one of the busiest lines in the town. Their offices open as early as 5 a.m. thanks to people who commute long distances daily. They are located exactly opposite the Nakuru Top Market and Sokoni Plaza. Their matatus travel from Nakuru to Nairobi, Thika, Nyeri, Eldoret, Kisumu and Kitale among others. The matatu group is beloved because of their affordable prices, steady flow of vehicles and good customer care. Their offices are also strategically positioned and they offer parcel services too.
Mololine
Mololine Sacco is arguably the oldest matatu group in Nakuru and possibly Kenya. It continues to ferry passengers throughout the country. The main destinations from Nakuru include Nairobi, Kisumu and Eldoret. Mololine Group is located a few meters from the 2NK offices in Nakuru also opposite the Top Market. The shuttle (11 seater) matatus are however located at the ground floor of highway towers opposite former Odeon Cinema building. Coincidentally, the Nairobi Mololine Shuttle offices are also at Odeon Cinema building.
Prestige Shuttle
This line of matatus is among the most recent in Nakuru, yet it continues to grow in leaps and bounds. Prestige Shuttle is famous for its strategic position at the Uchumi Business Plaza located behind the Kenyatta Avenue Tuskys Supermarket. It has male and female hosts that ensure all passengers are comfortable and attended to making it one of the best in customer care. All the matatus in this line are shuttles making them adequately spacious and comfortable.
North Rift Shuttle
The North Rift Group of matatus focuses on locations towards the North and West of Nakuru as opposed to the rest. The major destinations are Eldoret, Kisumu, Bungoma, Kitale, and Busia among others. The North Rift Shuttle offices recently opened in Nakuru due to the increased number of customers. Initially, the line only had a stopover in Nakuru with its main offices in Nairobi and Eldoret.
