Yesterday, (1 December), The world celebrated World AIDS day. Kenya, just like other countries celebrated this day too.
That aside, Kenya has been ranked by UNAids in the third place with the highest new HIV infections among the youth in the East and Central Africa. Kenya too has the second largest population of young people living with HIV in East and Central Africa.
Young people in Kenya who are between 15-24 years also contribute to more than 20% of the people who rely on ARVs, an almost precise number of 230,900 youths.
In an earlier post, we had written about the counties with high HIV/AIDS prevalences and today, we decided to break it down further to the counties with the highest “new” HIV infections in Kenya this year alone.
The ranking in order has slightly changed from the previous year but the figures have shot up generally.
Have a look.
