This article focuses on Fariji Sacco’s membership eligibility and requirements. Fariji Sacco is one of the largest deposit taking Saccos in Kenya with an asset base of 0.53 billion.
It was formed and registered in 1989 with the aim of effectively and efficiently mobilising savings and offering loan/credit facilities to its members.
The Sacco was initially known as Kagwe Catholic Church Development Fund- Kagwe Parish, registered under the Ministry of Culture & Social Services. The contribution was merely Kshs 20 per month.
Later on, other denominations were incorporated and the name changed to Kagwe Christians Development Fund Sacco, registered under the Ministry of Cooperatives.
In 2010, the sacco rebranded to Fariji Sacco to have a national outlook and to bring more members on board.
Fariji Sacco Membership Eligibility
The Sacco’s membership is open to all. It mainly draws its membership from;
- Tea farmers.
- Coffee farmers.
- Horticultural farmers.
- Dairy farmers.
- Business community.
- Investment groups.
- Investment groups.
- Pension and salaried persons.
Fariji Sacco Membership Requirements
(i). Individual Membership
- Fill a membership application form which is available on the Sacco’s website.
- Copy of National ID/ Passport.
- Passport size photograph.
- Registration fee of Kshs 500.
(ii). Group Membership
- Fill a group membership application form which is available on the Sacco’s website.
- Copies of ID/ Passport of authorised signatories.
- Passport size photographs for authorised signatories.
- Group minutes resolving to open an account with Fariji Sacco.
- Group’s registration certificate.
- Registration fees of Kshs 500.
(iii). Joint Membership
- Fill a membership application form which is available on the Sacco’s website.
- Copies of ID/Passport for both applicants.
- Passport size photographs for both applicants.
- Registration fees of Kshs 500.
(iv). Corporate Membership
- Fill a corporate membership application form.
- Passport size photograph for authorised signatories.
- Board of directors minutes resolving to open an account with Fariji Sacco.
- Copy of articles and memorandum of association.
- Registration certificate.
- Registration fees of Kshs 500.
