Telkom Kenya allows you to borrow emergency airtime just like Safaricom’s Okoa Jahazi. The service which is called PEWA, is available to Telkom prepaid subscribers by dialling *133# on your phone. PEWA was introduced to facilitate connection with the people you care about when your airtime has run out and there is no shop nearby.
One good thing about PEWA is the fact that you can request for emergency airtime in the middle of a call i.e When you are making a call and realise you are running out of credit, you can hold the hold and request for PEWA then continue your call.
Telkom PEWA charges
Telkom charges a service fee of 10% to process your borrowed airtime. For instance, if you borrow Ksh 50, you will receive Ksh 45 airtime.
How To Qualify For Telkom Pewa Emergency Airtime
1. As said before, your Telkom line must be active for the past two months
2. You must have accumulated usage of Ksh 50 for the past month.
3. Your main account must have at least Ksh 10
Please note that you can only borrow Ksh 20, Ksh50 and Ksh 50 emergency airtime from Telkom Kenya.
How to Check your Telkom PEWA balance
You can check your PEWA balance by dialling *131# or by sending an SMS ‘131’ to ‘131’.
PEWA Repayment Period
It should be repaid in 7 days from the date of approval failure to which your Pewa service will be suspended for 14 days.
Please note that the PEWA airtime is valid for 30 days.
