The E16 error notification you notice on your TV is usually as a result of an expired subscription. Let’s be honest , it sucks when you see the E16 error message despite the fact that you have an active subscription. Right? Most of the time this happens when you make your monthly payment for your subscription. If it happens that your decoder is turned off when making the payment, you will definitely get the E16 error because activating the subscription might be delayed.
Here is how to clear an E16 error message on your TV screen.
1. Before trying to solve your E16 problem, make sure your smart card is properly inserted and your decoder is turned on.
2. Clear the error by sending a text message.
For DSTV, send the word RESET followed by your Smartcard Number to 22688
For GOtv, send the word RESET followed by your IUC number to 22688
3. Clear the error using a USSD code
This works both for Gotv and DSTV – Dial *423# on your phone and follow the prompts.
