This is a simple guide on how to get a tape-lifting report in Kenya. Tape lifting is the verification of a vehicle’s chassis number and engine number to confirm whether the details match the registration documents. Tape lifting helps to curb fraud and logbook forgery cases.
How Much Is Tape Lifting In Kenya?
A tape lifting report is required by NTSA when changing number plates. This report is uploaded to the NTSA portal during the number plate application process. Tape lifting is done free of charge at the nearest DCI office. Make sure you carry the vehicle’s original logbook and a police abstract. It can take up to two weeks to get a tape-lifting report.
Note: A tape lifting report is not required when applying for the new digital generation number plates.
