This is a step by step guide on how to opt in to Mpesa Global. Mpesa Global is a service by Safaricom that enables Mpesa registered customers to send and receive money globally.
Safaricom has partnered with a number of mobile money transfer service providers to ensure you are able to send and receive money conveniently, right at the comfort of your home.
Mpesa registered customers will be able to receive funds from abroad on their Mpesa account. They will also be able to send funds to the following destinations;
1. To East Africa
You can conveniently send money across the East African region, specifically Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania.
When in Tanzania, simply dial *150*00# then send money to Mpesa Kenya on your vodacom line.
When in Rwanda, simply dial *830# to send money to Kenya from your MTN line.
When in Uganda, simply dial *165# to send money to Kenya from your MTN line.
2. Globally
You can send money to any destination in the world. This is to millions of bank accounts and over 500,000 Western Union locations globally.
3. Paypal
Conveniently access funds and shop around the world with Paypal mobile money service with Mpesa.
The minimum and maximum amount that one can send through Mpesa Global is Kshs 101 and Kshs 70,000 respectively. The recipient will receive the funds in their country’s currency.
How To Opt In To Mpesa Global Service
1. Via USSD
- Dial *840#.
- Read the terms and conditions.
- Accept or decline the terms and conditions to opt in.
- Enter Mpesa PIN then wait for a confirmation message.
2. Via MySafaricom App
- Launch the updated MySafaricom App version. (A good internet connection is required ).
- Go to Mpesa
- Select Mpesa Global.
- Read the terms and conditions that will be displayed.
- Accept or decline the terms and conditions to opt in.
- Enter your Mpesa PIN then wait for a confirmation message.
