To qualify for a loan from Tala, you need to download their app from Google Play and register as a customer. After finishing the registration, the app will collect data from your phone which they will use to process your loan. Your call frequency and Mpesa transaction history are among the data that they will get from your phone.

After completing the registration, you can now apply for a loan which will be processed in 5 minutes. As a first time applicant, you will be given Ksh 2,000 and no security will be required. Upon approval, cash will be sent instantly to your M-Pesa account. You will be charged a one-off processing fee of between five to 15 percent of the loan which must be repaid up to in six months.

Paying your loan in good time will guarantees one to bigger loans in future and if you fail to repay the loan in the stipulated time you get blacklisted.
