Making a wrong Mpesa transaction can be traumatic especially when you have sent money to an unknown number. In this post, we look at how you can reverse your money after making a wrong Mpesa transaction.
Despite the introduction of Hakikisha, which seemed like a life saviour, many people are still calling Safaricom’s customer care daily to recover money sent to wrong numbers. Hakikisha is a feature on Mpesa which enables you to confirm the name of the intended recipient of the funds, before completing an Mpesa transaction. The Hakikisha pop-out disappears very fast which has been a big challenge, especially for IOS users.
Don’t worry about that because Safaricom has now made the process of reversing a wrong transaction much easier. Below is a step by step guide on how to reverse a wrong Mpesa transaction in Kenya .
1.Copy the Mpesa transaction message and immediately SMS it to 456
2. Safaricom will get back to you immediately regarding the status of reversal; they will hold the money and contact the recipient.
3. The reversal will then be initiated within 2 hours
