Karura Forest Entrance Fees

In this post, we will highlight the Karura Forest entrance fees. It is located in the Northern part of Nairobi City. The forest is managed by the Kenya Forest Service and the Friends of Karura Community Forest Association.

Karura Forest’s main entrance is located along Limuru Road opposite the Belgian Embassy. It is also accessible through Gate C which is located along Kiambu Road opposite the DCI headquarters.

Karura is one of the largest urban gazetted forests in the world. It features well-marked trails, scenic waterfalls, picnic sites, caves and spectacular indigenous trees. Karura is a perfect destination for walking, jogging, running, cycling, butterfly watching, picnicking, and bird watching.

Karura Forest Entrance Fees 

a) Citizens

Adult: Ksh 100

Child: Ksh 50

b) Residents

Adult: Ksh 200

Child: Ksh 100

c) Non-Residents

Adult: Ksh 600

Child: Ksh. 300

Note: Citizens are Kenyan citizens while Residents are non-citizen persons living in Kenya. Proof of Kenyan citizenship and residency will be required at the gate.

Parking Fees daily rate

Car 4×4:  5 door – Ksh 100
Minivan  12 seater –  Ksh 200
Minibus 14-32 seats – Ksh 300
Bus  32+ seater – Ksh 500

Picnic Fee per person

Adult: Ksh 150

Child  (12 & under) : Ksh 100

Bike Hire

Ksh 500 for two hours extendable.

Opening Hours

6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.  Last forest entry is at 5:45 PM (All gates closed at 7:00 PM)
