No doubt that Kenya Airways ( KQ ) is one of the best and most respected airline companies in Africa. After announcing in 2017 that it will start direct flights to New York, it’s now official that the flights will commence in October. At the moment, there is no direct connection to the US cities, East African countries depend airlines outside the region to link their airports to US destinations.
Only the Ethiopian Airlines and South African Airways from Eastern and Southern African region fly to the US. Most tourists plying the route opt for the Middle East and European registered airlines such as Emirates and Qatar Airways. With about 100,000 tourists visiting Kenya every year from the US, KQ management hopes that the new route will help boost its revenues.
