This article focuses on Kenya Forest Service rangers recruitment requirements. The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) is a state corporation established under the Forest Conservation and Management Act 2016.
The mandate of KFS is to protect, conserve, and sustainably manage forest resources for socio-economic benefits for the present and future generations.
KFS invites qualified, performance-driven and highly motivated individuals to fill the position of Forest Rangers, Forest Assistant and Forester whenever there are vacancies.
Terms of employment for the above persons are permanent and pensionable based upon successful completion of the training and subsequent confirmation.
Kenya Forest Service Rangers Entry Requirements
- Must be a Kenyan citizen.
- Must have National Identification Card.
- Minimum of D+ in KCSE (Examination result slip shall not be accepted).
- Be aged between 18-28 years.
- Be of 5.6 ft (men) and 5.3 ft (women) in height.
- Be physically and medically fit.
- Female candidates should not be pregnant before recruitment and during training.
- Have a valid clearance certificate from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation.
In addition, successful candidates shall be required to;
- Undergo further medical check up at the Forest Law Enforcement Academy.
- Undergo rigorous 9 months Forest Law Enforcement (paramilitary) training.
- Meet the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya.
Interested candidates are expected to present themselves at their respective recruitment centres as announced by KFS.
Candidates are expected to present both original and one photocopy each of National ID, academic certificate and testimonials.
Forest Assistant III Entry Requirements
- Must be a Kenyan citizen.
- Holder of a certificate of forestry from a recognised institution.
- Minimum of D+ in KCSE.
- Proficiency in computer application.
- Have a valid clearance certificate from DCI.
In addition, successful applicants will be required to;
- Undergo rigorous forest law enforcement (paramilitary) training.
- Meet the requirements of Chapter 6 of the constitution.
Forester II Entry Requirements
- Must be a Kenyan citizen.
- Holder of a diploma in forestry from a recognised institution.
- Proficiency in computer application.
- Have a valid clearance certificate from the DCI.
In addition, successful applicants will be required to;
- Undergo rigorous forest law enforcement (paramilitary) training.
- Meet the requirements of Chapter 6 of the constitution.
