Kimisitu Sacco Membership Eligibility & Requirements

This article focuses on Kimisitu Sacco membership eligibility and requirements. Kimisitu Sacco was formed in March 1985 by a group of staff from ICRAF.

The society was formed mainly to promote thrift among its members by according them an opportunity for accumulating their savings and thereby creating a source of funds from which loans can be made to them exclusively for provident and productive purposes.

It is one of the largest deposit-taking Saccos in Kenya with an asset base of 9.54 billion.

Kimisitu Sacco Membership Eligibility

  • Employees of international organisations, NGOs, embassies, high commissions and reputable organisations.
  • Spouses and children of members.
  • Individuals in business.
  • Chamas (registered and unregistered chamas).
  • Corporates and registered businesses.

Kimisitu Sacco Membership Requirements

1. Individual Members

  • Complete online registration form which is available on the Sacco’s website.
  • Copy of National ID.
  • Passport size photo.
  • Membership entrance fee of Kshs 1,000 or 1,022 (via Mpesa).
  • Minimum monthly contribution of Kshs 2,000.
  • Initial minimum share capital of Kshs 5,000.

2. Corporate Members

  • Completed corporate membership application form.
  • Certificate of incorporation.
  • IDs, PIN certificate and passport size photos of signatories.
  • Company profile.
  • Membership entrance fee of Kshs 2,000 or Kshs 2,022 (via Mpesa).
  • Minimum monthly contribution of Kshs 10,000.
  • Initial minimum share capital of Kshs 10,000.
  • Resolution of directors to join Kimisitu Sacco.

3. Chama Members 

Chama membership comprises of;

(a). Registered Groups

(i). Self Help Groups/ Women Groups/ Youth Groups

  • Completed chama membership application form.
  • Certificate of registration.
  • Signatories copy of IDs and passport size photos.
  • Membership entrance fee of Kshs 2,000 or 2,022 (via Mpesa).
  • Minimum monthly contribution of Kshs 10,000.
  • Initial minimum share capital of Kshs 10,000.
  • Group constitution.
  • Letter of introduction from the Ministry of Social Services.
  • Resolution by the group members to join Kimisitu Sacco.

(ii). Investment Groups Registered as Companies

  • Completed chama membership application form.
  • Certificate of incorporation.
  • Directors’ copy of IDs and passport size photos.
  • Membership entrance fee of Kshs 2,000 or 2,022 (via Mpesa).
  • Minimum monthly contribution of Kshs 10,000.
  • Initial minimum share capital of Kshs 10,000.
  • Company and directors KRA PIN certificate.
  • Original memorandum and article of association.
  • Resolution to join Kimisitu Sacco.
