Kisumu Museum Entry Charges

This article focuses on Kisumu Museum entry charges. Kisumu Museum is one of the museums managed by the National Museums of Kenya, a state corporation established by an Act of Parliament, the Museums and Heritage Act 2006 and mandated to collect, preserve, study, document and present Kenya’s past and present cultural and natural heritage.

Kisumu Museum was opened to the public in 1980. It is located along the Kisumu-Kericho Highway, within Milimani Estate in Kisumu Town. It stores and disseminates information on scientific and cultural issues with emphasis on Western Kenya. Exhibits at the museum include a snake park, fish aquarium, a cultural history gallery and a traditional homestead.

The museum provides educational services to various schools within the lake region and beyond. This includes research activities and other scientific projects. One of the notable research projects that the museum has participated in is the multinational investigation on limnology, a scientific characteristic of fresh water lakes. The research was conducted by the International Centre for Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE).

Kisumu Museum also provides spacious grounds and facilities for international & local seminars and workshops. It occupies about 10 acres of land thus providing enough space for holding all types of seminars and workshops, whether large or small.

Apart from the attractions at the museum, one can visit nearby attraction sites such as Tom Mboya Mausoleum, Thimlich Ohinga World Heritage Site, Fort Tenan and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Mausoleum. All the sites disseminate information on cultural, scientific and historical issues.
