In this article, we will look at KWS recruitment requirements for Cadets and Rangers as of 2024. Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) seeks to recruit 1,500 young and dynamic individuals as Cadets (Assistant Warden I)- 150 and Rangers- 1,350 who can endure the condition for training and deployment to various conservation areas in response to the wildlife protection challenges currently being experienced in the country in a phased approach.
The recruitment exercise shall take place from Monday 15th April 2024- Friday 19th April 2024.
1. Cadets (Assistant Warden I)- KWS Job Grade “9”- 150 Posts- REF: KWS/01/2024
Requirements
The applicant must:
- Be a citizen of Kenya.
- Be a holder of Bachelor’s degree, minimum of 2nd class honors lower division in Wildlife Management, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Science, Range Management, Veterinary Medicine, Tourism Management, Education, Sociology or Community Development from a recognised institution.
- Be 28 years old and below.
- Be of good health and physique.
- Have no criminal record.
- Successful candidates will be required to undergo mandatory paramilitary training for a period of 9 months and thereafter be deployed to the field.

2. Rangers- KWS Job Grade “15”- 1350 Posts- REF: KWS/02/2024
Requirements
The applicant must:
- Be a citizen of Kenya.
- Hold a Kenya National ID/Passport.
- Hail from the county of recruitment.
- Possess a minimum mean grade of D plain in KCSE or its equivalent from an examination body recognised in Kenya.
- Be aged between 18 and 26 years.
- Be physically and medically fit.
- Have no criminal record.
- Successful candidates will be required to undergo mandatory paramilitary training for a period of 6 months and thereafter be deployed to the field.
NB: National Youth Service (NYS) graduates who meet the above requirements are encouraged to apply.
