A pension by definition refers to a regular payment made during a person’s retirement from an investment fund to which that person or their employer has contributed during their working life.
In Kenya, the institution tasked with pension matters is the Retirement Benefits Authority ( RBA ).
It is the body mandated to regulate and supervise the establishment and management of retirement Benefits schemes, protect the interest of members and sponsors of retirement Benefits schemes, develop and promote the retirement benefits sector, advise the Government on matters relating to retirement benefits and implement all government policies relating thereto.
In order to achieve the above, RBA has the authority to appoint administrators who are responsible for the oversight, management and administration of the pension plan, and the administration and investment of the pension fund.
