Did you attain a KCSE mean grade of C- (Minus) and thinking about pursuing a course at The Kenya Medical Training Institute but don’t know which one? Well, don’t worry, this article delves into courses offered at the institution that requires a minimum entry grade of C- (Minus). These courses are made up of certificate and diploma programs and take between 2 and 3 years to complete.
Besides the courses, we will also highlight other requirements attached to each cause including the study duration each one takes before completion.
List of C- (Minus) Courses Offered In KMTC
- Certificate in Community Health Assistant
This course takes two years to complete and is offered on selected KMTC campuses. Besides a KCSE mean grade of C-, the course also requires a D+ in English or Kiswahili, a D in Biology/ Biological Sciences, D in any of the following: Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics/Physical Sciences, Agriculture, Home Science.
- Certificate in Community Health Nursing
This course has a study duration of 2 years and is offered on selected campuses. Other requirements are C- in English or Kiswahili and Biology/Biological Sciences. D+ in any one of the following: – Physics/Physical Sciences, Chemistry, or Mathematics.
- Certificate- Emergency Medical Technician
This certificate course takes 1 year to complete and is offered at the KMTC Nairobi campus.
- Certificate in Health Records and Information
This program has a study duration of 2 years. It also requires a C- in English or Kiswahili and D in Biology/ Biological Sciences. D- in Mathematics and D+ in any one of the following: – Physics/Physical Sciences, Chemistry, General Science, Computer Studies, agriculture, Home Science, Economics, Geography, Commerce, and Business Studies.
- Certificate in Medical Engineering
This certificate course takes 2 years to complete. Besides a KCSE mean grade of C-, the program also requires a C- in English or Kiswahili, a D in Mathematics, and a D- in Physics/Physical Sciences. D in any one of the following: Chemistry, Biology/Biological Sciences, Electricity, Metal Work, and Technical Drawing.
- Certificate in Orthopedic Trauma Medicine
This program has a study duration of 2 years. It is offered at selected KMTC campuses across the country. Other qualifications are C- in English or Kiswahili and C- in Biology/ Biological Sciences D+ in any one of the following: Physics/ Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Chemistry, Woodwork, Metal Work, Technical Drawing, Home Science, Agriculture, and Computer Studies.
- Certificate in Public Health
This course takes 2 years to complete. Other requirements include C- in English or Kiswahili D+ in Biology/ Biological Sciences and D in Mathematics D in any one of the following: Home Science, Physics, Chemistry, Agriculture, Building Construction, Technical Drawing, and Electricity or Woodwork.
- Diploma in Mortuary Science
This program is offered at the KMTC Nairobi campus and takes 3 years to complete.
- Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics
This diploma program has a 3-year study duration and is available on selected KMTC campuses. Other requirements are D+ in English or Kiswahili, Biology/ Biological Sciences, and D+ in Chemistry/Physical Science. D+ in any one of the following: Home Science, Agriculture, Mathematics, Physics, and General Science.
