This article highlights all courses offered at KMTC Bungoma campus. KMTC Bungoma campus was opened in 2011 as part of the institute’s expansion plan to train healthcare professionals in the western region. The campus is located next to Bungoma County Referal Hospital in Bungoma town.
List Of Courses Offered At KMTC Bungoma Campus
KMTC Bungoma started out offering a course in Community Health Nursing. Over the years, the campus has grown and now offers four courses to more than 400 students. Here is the list
- Certificate in Medical Engineering
Requirements: Mean Grade C-, C- in English or Kiswahili, D in Mathematics, and D- in Physics/Physical Sciences. D in any one of the following: Chemistry, Biology/Biological Sciences, Electricity, Metal Work, Technical Drawing
Duration: 2 years
- Diploma in Orthopedic Technology
Requirements: Mean Grade C, C in English or Kiswahili and C- in Biology/ Biological Sciences, D+ in any one of the following: – Physics/ Physical Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, Woodwork, Metal Work, Technical Drawing
Duration: 3 years
- Diploma in Community Health Nursing (Pre-service)
Requirements: Mean Grade C, C in English or Kiswahili and Biology/Biological Sciences. C- in any one of the following: Chemistry Physics/ Physical Science or Mathematics
Duration: 3 years
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine & Surgery
Requirements: Mean Grade C, C in English or Kiswahili, and C in Biology/ Biological Sciences, C- in Chemistry/Physical Sciences C- in any one of the following: Mathematics, Physics/Physical Sciences
Duration: 3 years
The campus has modern facilities such as a well-stocked library, a skills laboratory, free internet connections, a campus bus, a modern tuition block, and lecture halls to support learning.
Students at KMTC Bungoma mainly have their clinical experience lessons at the Bungoma County Referal Hospital. Other sites include Kakamega County Referral Hospital, Vihiga County Referral Hospital, Mbale, Sirisia, Cheptais, Nambale, Bokoli, and Bumula.
Besides academics, KMTC Bungoma has several clubs, societies, and sports for students to join. These clubs and societies allow students to explore their interests, learn new skills, and engage with other students outside the classroom. Some of the clubs available at the campus are Christian Union, Seventh Day Adventist, Young Catholics Society, Muslim group, Rugby Club, Martial Arts-Karate, Football, and Athletics.
