This article looks into all courses offered at KMTC Busia Campus. Kenya Medical Training College KMTC Busia Campus is one of the 71 constituent campuses of KMTC, situated on a spacious 4½ acre land adjacent to the Busia County Referral Hospital in Busia town, Matayos Constituency, Busia County. The institution is located about 500 meters from the Kenya-Uganda border post.
The campus was approved by the Clinical Officers Council on 1st November 2016, and the first group of students for a Diploma Course in Clinical Medicine were admitted in the same month. The Nursing Council of Kenya also accredited the campus to offer a Diploma Course in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing in March 2017, and the first group of nursing students was admitted in April 2017.
List Of Courses Offered At KMTC Busia Campus
At present, KMTC Busia Campus offers two Diploma Courses. We will list them below including their requirements and the duration each course takes.
- Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing
Requirements: KCSE Mean Grade C, C in English or Kiswahili and Biology/Biological Sciences. C- in any one of the following: Chemistry or Physics/ Physical Science or Mathematics
Duration: 3 years
- Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery
Requirements: KCSE Mean Grade C, C in English or Kiswahili, and C in Biology/ Biological Sciences, C- in Chemistry/Physical Sciences C- in any one of the following: Mathematics, Physics/Physical Sciences
Duration: 3 years
Prospective Courses
Looking ahead, the Campus is planning to offer two more courses:
- Certificate in Community Health Nursing
- Upgrading Course in Orthopaedic Trauma Medicine

Moreover, the campus also partners with other hospitals and health centres outside the Busia region, including Nakuru County Referral Hospital, Mathare Mental Health Hospital, and Kakamega County Referral Hospital.
KMTC Busia Campus has several religious-based groups, including the Catholic Students Association, Christian Union, Muslim Students Association, and Seventh Day Adventist. They provide students with a platform to engage in spiritual activities, socialize, and participate in community service initiatives.
For sports enthusiasts, the Campus offers a range of sporting activities, including football, volleyball, handball, hockey, and indoor games.
