Tea brokers in Kenya are based in Mombasa where auction usually takes place. The Mombasa tea auctions are held weekly, on Mondays and Tuesdays. Main grades auctions are held on Tuesdays (8 am) while secondary grades auctions are held on Mondays (9 am). Tea producers deliver their tea to appointed warehouses in Mombasa and advise their brokers on which tea is to be sold in the auction. The East African Tea Trade Association (EATTA) is the auction organizer that runs the weekly Mombasa Tea Auctions at the Tea Trade Centre along Nyerere Avenue in Mombasa. The Mombasa Tea Auction is the second largest black tea auction centre in the world after The Colombo Tea Auction in Sri Lanka.
