List Of Safe Antidepressants During Pregnancy

This is a list of safe antidepressants during pregnancy. Antidepressants are among the most commonly prescribed drugs in Kenya for pregnant women. Antidepressants are used to treat mental depression that interferes with a one’s ability to function normally.

Maternal depression and anxiety during pregnancy and the early years of an infant’s life are the main factors which lead to the prescription of these drugs to help the mother cop up with the situation. Although studies have found out that there are effects associated with the use of antidepressants during pregnancy, the risks of depression to the mother always outweigh risks of the antidepressants harming your baby.  If untreated, depression can lead to social isolation, physical complaints, such as fatigue, sleep problems, and aches and pains, and even suicide.

Below, we have listed some of the safe antidepressants a mother can use during pregnancy.
