This is a list of Water Works Development Agencies in Kenya. Water Works Development Agencies (WWDAs) were formed through the Water Act of 2016 to replace Water Service Boards (WSBs). They are mandated to develop and maintain sustainable water and sanitation infrastructure within the counties.
Functions Of Water Works Development Agencies In Kenya
1. They undertake the development, maintenance, and management of the national public water works within the area of jurisdiction.
2. They operate waterworks and provide water services as a water service provider until when the responsibility for the operation and management of the waterworks is handed over to a county government, joint committee, authority of county governments or a water services provider within the area of jurisdiction.
3. They provide reserve capacity for purposes of providing water services.
4. They provide technical services and capacity building to county governments and water services providers.
5. Provision of technical support to the Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Water & Sanitation and Irrigation.

1. Tana Water Works Development Agency (TWWDA)
It serves Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Meru, Embu and Tharaka Nithi counties covering an area of 17,189.7Km2 with a population of 3,917,065.

2. Athi Water Works Development Agency (AWWDA)
Its geographical area of jurisdiction is Nairobi City, Kiambu and Murang’a counties.

3. The Coast Water Works Development Agency (CWWDA)
CWWDA serves Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Taita-Taveta, Lamu and Tana River counties.

4. Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency (LVNWWDA)
It serves six counties in the Western and part of the North Rift region of Kenya; Kakamega County, Bungoma County, Vihiga County, Busia County, Trans-Nzoia County, and Nandi County.

The agency serves Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Isiolo, Samburu and Marsabit counties.
