This article focuses on Maisha Bora Sacco membership eligibility and requirements. The Sacco is governed by the Constitution of Kenya, Acts of Parliament and the rules & regulations made therein; the sacco by-laws and the policies of the sacco.
Maisha Bora Sacco’s current asset base stands at 5.18 billion and loan portfolio at 3.26 billion. The assets are supported by member deposits of 3.78 billion, share capital of 301 million and other liabilities.

- Employees of Uniliver and affiliated companies.
- Private companies.
- NGOs.
- National and county government employees.
- Kenyans in diaspora.
- Business communities.
- Registered groups.
Maisha Bora Sacco Membership Requirements
(i). Individual Membership
- Duly completed membership application form which can be downloaded from the Sacco’s website.
- Identity Card (copy).
- 2 coloured passport size photos.
- Registration fee of Kshs 2,000.
(ii). Group/Chama Membership
- Complete group membership application form.
- Minutes of the group with resolution authorising the opening of the account with Maisha Bora.
- Identity Card (original & copy) for each signatory.
- 1 coloured passport size photo for each signatory.
- A copy of certificate of registration.
- A copy of the group’s constitution.
- A list of all group members with ID numbers, duly signed by the members.
- Introduction letter from the relevant government ministries (if applicable).
- Account opening fee of Kshs 2,000.
- Minimum monthly contribution of Kshs 3,000.
How to Join Maisha Bora Sacco
1. Go to the Sacco’s website https://portal.maishaborasacco.com/Online%20forms.aspx and complete the online registration form.
2. Pay the joining fee and share capital using Paybill Number 600110 with your ID number as the account number. You can also deposit the fee at the bank or at the FOSA.
Alternatively;
1. You can fill the hardcopy membership form available at the Sacco’s office and on its website under the download menu https://maishaborasacco.com/download/membership-application-form/.
2. Attach a copy of your ID, a passport photo and a copy of KRA PIN certificate.
3. Return the form to the Sacco’s customer care desk and make a deposit of the joining fee of Kshs 2,000 and minimum share capital of Kshs 1,000 or scan and send to their email info@maishaborasacco.com.
