This article focuses on the requirements for one to become a National Bank Agent in Kenya. National Bank is a financial service provider headquartered in Nairobi. It is licensed as a commercial bank by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).
The bank is a subsidiary of KCB Group after a successful acquisition in 2019. It is one of the best banks in Kenya, offering a wide range of banking services like accounts, loans, debit and credit, insurance and investment.
For convenience and easy access to services, National Bank has contracted several agents in different parts of the country to offer its services to clients right within their locality without necessarily travelling to the bank’s branches which may be far.
A National Bank agent is an entity that has been contracted by the bank and approved by Central Bank of Kenya to provide banking services on behalf of the bank.

- Societies.
- Sole proprietorship.
- Partnerships.
- State corporations.
- Public entities.
- Trusts.
- Public entities through consent from a regulatory body.
Requirements to be a National Bank Agent
- The applicant should have been carrying out a legal and registered business for the last 18 months and should be financially stable.
- The applicant’s CRB record for the past 18 months should be favourable.
Documents Required to Be a National Bank Agent
- National ID.
- KRA PINs of directors.
- Valid certificate of good conduct.
- Latest bank statement of 18 months/ CRB report.
- 2 passport size photographs of the directors or owners of the business.
- Photo of the business premises.
- Valid business license or permit.
- Must have been in operation for the last 18 months operating a legal business.
- Certificate of incorporation/ certificate of registration.
- Memorandum and articles of association for a company.
Applicable Fees to Facilitate Approval
POS lease fees: Kshs 6,000.
Minimum float required: Kshs 20,000.
Maximum float required: Kshs 100,000.
