Tips On how to Find Best Part time Jobs in Kenya as a Student

Finding a good part time job that fits into your school schedule can be tough. For starters, most Kenyan university students are in class throughout the day and only have a few hours in a day to spare. Additionally, finding a job that pays well enough to be worth your time if you do it part time can be a major challenge. But since there are students in Kenyan universities working part time, we figured it can be done.

Below are some tips to help you find a part time job while in school.

1. Take Evening Classes

If you have an option to take evening classes then this can be a great idea because it allows you to work during the day. It’s going to be easier for you to find an employer who allows you to work from 8 to 5 and then go for your classes in the evenings.

2. Visit Online Jobs Websites

A number of job sites post part time job opportunities which Kenyan university students can apply for. You can be checking the online job sites for such opportunities and sending your applications as soon as you can.

3. Check with your Institution

Some universities in Kenya offer students jobs within the campus. The job opportunities may vary from being a library assistant to helping the lecturers in teaching diploma and certificate courses or marking CATs. You need to check with your department and find out if there are any job openings within the campus. They are usually the best because you won’t have to spend time commuting to and from work so you’ll have adequate time to study.

4. Consult Companies you Interned

It could be that the company where you were doing your internship can benefit from your spare hours. You can pop in and talk to your boss to find out if they need any extra help and are willing to pay you something small for it.

5. Consult your Lecturer

Talk to your lecturer regarding any job opportunity he may be aware of or if he/she needs assistance. You may be able to get a part time job like research opportunity in campus.
