East Africa Tourist Visa is a joint tourist visa that entitles holders to travel to and within Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda for tourism purposes. This type of visa is valid for ninety days (Multiple Entry)

East Africa Tourist Visa is a result of a joint initiative made by the Heads of States of Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda to boost regional tourism and create opportunities for tourists to explore the diversity of East Africa. Tourists who get this type of Visa must start travel from the country that has issued the Visa to them.

Requirements

1. One clear coloured passport size photo with white background recently taken without glasses, caps and scurf; (the photo should be attached to the application form by use of glue stick.

2. A complete filled application form.

3. Visa application letter addressed to the issuing authority of the concerned country. 

Eligibility

You are eligible for an East African Tourist Visa if you are a foreigner who wants to visit Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda simultaneously for tourism purposes. The visa will be issued at any of the diplomatic representations of Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda, at the immigration offices of the respective countries or online where applicable.

How To Apply

1. An application for an East Africa Tourist Visa may be made manually or online by submitting EATV Form 1.

2. The application may be made prior to the intended date of travel or on arrival at the first port of entry into Kenya, Rwanda or Uganda where applicable. Applications can be made online or be lodged at any of the diplomatic representation of Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda, at the Immigration Offices of the respective countries.

Rwanda: For those beginning their trip in Rwanda, you can apply through the Rwanda Online Visa Application System.

Uganda: For those beginning their trip in Uganda, you can find information on the visa application process on their immigration system website

Cost

Every application for an East Africa Tourist Visa shall be accompanied with the East Africa Tourist Visa fee of one hundred United States Dollars (100 USD) with all the online payments being subjected to a 3% surcharge fee.

The East Africa Tourist Visa is a single entry visa, but it is multiple entries within the partner states only and only elapses when one moves out of the partner States.

Expatriates residing in partner countries don’t necessarily need the East Africa Tourist Visa to visit the other three countries but can now obtain an Inter-State Pass which is valid for 6 months which they can use for their tour across the three countries. They will also be required to have a valid work or resident permit.

Citizens of Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda can use their National  Identity Cards as travel documents within the region.
