This is a list of products offered by Resolution Insurance and its branches in Kenya. It is one of the 56 licensed insurance companies in Kenya by the Insurance Regulatory Authority.  The company was incorporated in 2002 making it the first company to be registered as a Medical Insurance Provider. It changed from Resolution Health to Resolution Insurance in 2013. It’s actually one of the best health Insurance companies in the country.

Hospital Cash

This is an amount paid each day of hospitalization. This benefit comes into effect after 3 days of admission in a hospital for up to a maximum of 180 days. This benefit can only be bought if you have already purchased a Value or Harmony Plan.

Funeral Expense

This is an amount paid to the family in case of death of the insured.

2. Travel Insurance 

It covers the cost of unseen incidents such as baggage loss, flight delays, medical expenses, cancellations, and emergencies while traveling abroad.

3. Motor Insurance

This type of insurance protects insured against financial loss in the event that the motor vehicle is involved in an accident, burnt or stolen. There are three types of covers in motor insurance; Third party, Third party Fire & Theft, and Comprehensive cover.

  • Third-Party: Covers third-party bodily injury and property damage arising out of a vehicle accident. This covers unlimited liability for Third-party personal injuries or death. For any vehicle, this is the minimum cover required by the Motor Insurance Act. No cover is provided for any form of damage to the policyholder’s vehicle.

 

  • Third-party Fire & Theft: Covers theft, fire, third party bodily injury, and property damage. It has features of comprehensive cover but excludes damage arising from an accident. This is advisable for vehicles not exposed on the roads.

 

  • Comprehensive: Covers third-party liability and property damage to the vehicle i.e. damage arising out of fire, theft, and accidental damage to the vehicle. It is the widest cover available.

4. Home Insurance 

The Resolution Kenya home insurance cover is designed to cover the house, contents domestic employees as well as protect the owner against legal costs arising from incidents or accidents.

5. Personal Accident Cover 

This cover offers compensation for death, permanent disablement, temporary loss of income due to disablement, and medical expenses arising from an accident.

Employer’s Liability

It provides cover for legal liability consequent upon death of or bodily injury to or illness of an employee which occurs during and in the course of employment and which results in a claim or claims first being made against the insured during the period of insurance.

WIBA Plus (WIBA, GPA & Employer’s Liability combined to form one product)

It covers the legal liability of the employer arising from employee illness or injury, sustained in the course of their duties.

4. Liability Cover
This cover is designed for corporate entities and businesses that provide products or services to their customers. It protects you against legal costs and loss from a claim of alleged negligent acts, errors or omissions in the performance of your professional services.
  • Public Liability- Provides indemnity to third parties for accidental death, bodily injury illness or loss /damage.
  • Product Liability-  Provides indemnity against legal liability for accidental bodily injury / damage caused by the nature of product.
  • Directors Liability-  Provides compensation to the company against amounts that the insured shall become legally liable to pay resulting from any wrongful act in their capacities as officers.
  • Professional Indemnity -Provides indemnity against legal liability to third parties arising out of breach of professional duty by reason of any negligent act, error or omission.

5. Marine Cargo Insurance 

This is a transit risk policy which provides wide coverage for loss caused to cargo while in transit between any two points either by sea, air, rail or road and covers any accidental loss to cargo by perils insured against.
6. Bonds Insurance
It guarantees compensataion to the third party in respect of loss suffered as a result of the failure of the insured to perform a task described in the insurance contract.
  • Custom Bonds – used for goods in transit through the country or those produced in duty free zones targeting the export markets.It guarantees to the Kenya Revenue Authority for compliance with specific Customs / tax requirements.
  • Performance Bonds – offers surety that your business will not suffer unnecessary setback should you be unable to commit to the completion of contracted work.
  • Tender Bonds – protects your interests so that you do not feel the pinch of losing a bidder for your tender offer.

8. Hotel Insurance 

It is designed for hotels ranging from small cafes, restaurants to tourist hotels of first-class construction.

  • Fire and perils – Insures buildings and contents against; fire, explosion, lightning, earthquake, riot, strike, malicious damage, storm, flood, burst pipe, impact by aircraft, road vehicles, and related perils.

 

  • Machinery Breakdown- Protects your working machinery for the loss against sudden and unforeseen damage to machinery whilst in operation.

 

  • Machinery Consequantial Loss- This policy provides cover for financial loss suffered consequence from a machinery breakdown. This policy must be issued concurrently with the Machinery Breakdown Insurance policy.

 

  • Bulgary – Covers any theft or attempted theft including damage to building and contents e.g. TV, Video, Light and Sound Equipment, Stock and Materials in Trade including Wines, Spirits and Tobacco.

 

  • Money – Provides cover for the loss of money in direct transit or on premises including damage to safes or strong room caused by theft or any attempt to break into.

 

  • All Risks – Protects specified valuables and equipment of a business against loss from theft, fire or other perils.

 

  • Plate Glass – Provides cover against accidental breakage of fixed glass windows or doors.

 

  • Goods In Transit -Provides “all risks” cover to the insured’s property or goods for which the insured is responsible while being transported within Kenya.Perishable goods cover is restricted to accidents only.
  • Work Injury  Benefits Act – Provides cover for bodily injuries by accident or occupational diseases to all employees while in the course of their work. Complies with the Work Injury Benefits Act 2007.

 

  • Employers liability – provides Indemnity to the employer against Legal Liability under Common Law for damages and claimant’s costs and expenses of litigation in respect of Bodily Injury by accident or occupational disease caused to Employees during the Period of Insurance and arising out of and in the course of Common Law or Statutory Duty by the Employer.

 

  • Group Personal accident cover  – Provides cover for accidental bodily injuries or accidental death of the insured.

 

  • Public Liability  – Provides cover for all sums which the insured shall be legally liable to pay as damages for accidental bodily injury and/ or damage to property of third parties including legal costs and expenses incurred with the written consent of the company.
