In this article, we’ll look at Ruiru Sports Club Membership Fees and requirements. Ruiru Sports Club was started in 1922 as a tennis club. The club sits along The Thika Superhighway between Ruiru and Juja just next to Ruiru KenHA Weighbridge.

Ruiru Sports Club offers a diverse range of recreational facilities the highlight being a well-manicured Par-73 18-hole KGU (Kenya Golf Union) registered Golf course, a bowling green, and swimming facilities with a Semi-Olympic size pool. Additionally, the club has a restaurant, and a clubhouse and offers facilities for hire, including wedding and event grounds, a golf shooting range, practising greens, and helipad grounds, accessible to both members and non-members.

Ruiru Sports Club Membership Categories

The Ruiru Sports Club accepts new members to join the club across its various membership categories:

Full Membership: Duly elected under regulation 5 with no arrears in Annual Subscription. Privileges include voting at General Meetings and eligibility for Executive Committee or sub-committee roles.
Family Membership: Includes legal husband/wife and legal children under 20 years.
Junior Membership (under 24 years): Children of Full and Life Members aged 16 to 24. Elected like full members with a specific fee structure. You can transition to Full Membership at 24 by paying applicable fees.
Life/Senior Membership: Admitted at AGM on Executive Committee nomination. Minimum age of 65 with 25 consecutive years of membership. Exempt from Annual Subscription, pays Games fees.
Temporary Membership: Acquired by paying green fees. Entitled to club facilities for the day.
Honorary Membership: Executive Committee can elect for one year. Granted for service to the Club or general interest.
Reciprocating and Associate Members: Members of similar clubs with special arrangements. Allowed to use facilities under agreed reciprocal terms.
Corporate Membership: Registered institution paying membership fees for employees.
Absentee Membership: Former Full Member residing 100km away. Elected by the Management Committee, pays specified fees. No voting rights, but enjoys other Full Member benefits.
Non-Resident Membership: Resides outside Kenya but frequently visits. Pays entrance and annual subscription determined by the Executive Committee.
Student Membership: Over 21 years, parents must be Full or Life Members. Full-time student in a recognized institution. Can transition to Full Membership within one year after ceasing full-time student status.

New Membership Requirements

New members shall follow and meet the following requirements:

A new member must be proposed by full or life members of the club.
A member shall first be introduced as a guest by a full or life member.
The proposer shall write an introduction letter to the membership secretary.
The membership secretary shall provide the necessary application forms to be completed by the applicant.
The proposer shall seek a seconder for the nominee.
The proposer shall introduce the applicant to as many members of the committee as possible.
At least 8 committee members shall enter an endorsement in the application form.
The applicant shall submit a duly completed form and a cheque/EFT for the prevailing membership fee.
