Shimba Hills National Reserve is one of the largest coastal rainforests in East Africa. The reserve has 50% of the 159 rare plants in Kenya. It is widely known for its high density of elephants- home to more than 700 elephants. Shimba Hills National Reserve is also the only park in Kenya where you can see the rare Sable antelopes. Other animals in the park include giraffes, leopards, different species of birds, hyenas, different species of reptiles, vervet and Sykes monkeys.
Shimba Hills National Reserve offers an enabling environment for game-viewing activities, camping and nature walk. Sheldrick falls and the Mwaluganje elephant sanctuary are located within the reserve.
