This article focuses on Tai Sacco membership eligibility and requirements. Tai Sacco is a leading deposit-taking Savings & Credit Society with over 28 years of operation.
The Sacco was incepted and registered in 1992 as a BOSA activity under the name Kiambu Tea Growers Sacco. In January 1999, it opened its FOSA activity in Githunguri Town.
In its urge to diversify and grow its customer base, the sacco changed its name to Tai Sacco Society Limited in 2009. The rebranding was necessitated by the growth in customer base, thus the need for a more encompassing name was felt.
Tai Sacco is one of the largest deposit-taking Saccos in Kenya with an asset base of 4.11 billion.
Tai Sacco Membership Eligibility
The Sacco serves the following;
- Tea farmers.
- Civil servants.
- Dairy farmers.
- Coffee farmers.
- Horticulture and floriculture farmers.
- Business community.
- Transport industry.
Tai Sacco Membership Requirements
(i). Individual Membership
- Complete membership application form which can be downloaded from the Sacco’s website.
- Copy of Kenyan National ID or valid Kenyan passport.
- Coloured passport size photograph.
- Copy of KRA PIN.
- Registration fee of Kshs 500.
- Share capital of 1,000.
(ii). Joint Membership
- Complete membership application form which can be downloaded from the Sacco’s website.
- Copy of Kenyan National ID or valid Kenyan passport for both applicants.
- Coloured passport size photographs for both applicants.
- Copy of KRA PIN.
- Registration fee of Kshs 500.
- Share capital of 1,000.
(iii). Group Membership
This includes corporates, chamas and self-help groups.
- Complete group membership application form.
- Minutes of the group’s meeting resolving to join Tai Sacco.
- Group’s constitution.
- Copies of ID, passport or photos of authorised signatories.
- Copy of group’s registration certificate.
- KRA PIN number (where applicable).
- Registration fee of Kshs 500.
- Share capital of 1,000.
Note:
Upon successful completion of membership registration, 3 mandatory accounts are created. The accounts are;
- Savings account.
- Share capital.
- Non-withdrawable savings account which is also a multiplier account for loans.
