Telepost Sacco Membership Eligibility & Requirements

This article focuses on Telepost Sacco membership eligibility and requirements. Telepost (formerly Posta Sacco) started in 1969 as a welfare organisation for the subordinate staff of the then Kenya Posts & Telecommunications Corporation (KP&TC).

Since its inception, the Sacco has grown and become one of the leading organisations in the industry in terms of membership and share capital.

In the beginning, total membership was below 100 with a minimum monthly contribution of Kshs 20 and a registration fee of Kshs 5. Currently, the minimum monthly contribution is Kshs 2,000 for normal shares, Kshs 500 for education shares and Kshs 300 for benevolent fund.

The Sacco assumed its new name in 1999 following the re-organisation of the then Kenya Posts & Telecommunications Corporation to; Communication Commission of Kenya, Telkom Kenya and Postal Corporation of Kenya.

Any person can join the Sacco from all the segments of the market including;

  • Employees of Telepost Sacco Society.
  • Telkom Kenya employees.
  • Posta Kenya employees.
  • Career Direction Limited.
  • Human Capital Synergies.
  • Multimedia University.
  • Other private organisations.
  • Private individual members.
  • Chamas corporates.
  • Non core bond members.
  • Spouses and dependents of members.

Telepost Sacco Membership Requirements

  • Fill in membership application form that can either be downloaded from the Sacco’s website or can be obtained from the Sacco’s offices or from delegates at every county.
  • Attach a copy of National ID and a passport size photograph.
  • Entrance fee of Kshs 1,000.
  • Minimum monthly contribution of Kshs 2,000 and Kshs 300 being Telepost Benevolent Fund monthly.
