We all love fun, some moderate fun and some mad fun. Kenya provides all these types of adventures. Some of these adventures are not for the faint-hearted i.e jumping from high places, whitewater Rafting and zip lining.
Here is a list of adrenaline-packed adventures you should try out in Kenya.
1.Skydiving
Diani beach in Ukunda offers the most spectacular drop zone for adventure seekers that are interested in skydiving in Kenya. A freefall and parachute descent over the scenic Kenyan Beaches is an event of unparalleled beauty, thrill and enjoyment. You get to have a once in a lifetime opportunity of having a picturesque glimpse of the breathtaking beaches and the calm sea waters protected by the reef with an indescribable colour.
Rates are as from $350.
2. Flyboarding
Flyboarding is a revolutionary new water sport that allows you to swim like a dolphin and hover up to 20 feet in the air. This is done by wearing a board that propels a high volume of water out of two nozzles. A jet ski generates the power, and a 50-foot hose redirects the water from the ski to the Flyboard. A thrilling 30-minute flyboarding session can cost you from $100.
3. White Water Rafting
White water rafting is a sport most Kenyans don’t look at twice. This sport is scary though but exhilarating and unbelievably amazing. You get to enjoy the raft dash, canoe fights, glide over the rapids, waterfalls challenges, plunges and even raft flips. It is one of the most breathtaking sports in the water. You can get to experience the adrenaline rush in places like Sagana and even Tana River.
4. Bungee Jumping
Imagine this, being strapped and then throwing yourself off a very high ledge, sounds like death right? But trust me, this is fun. You get to have an adrenaline kick of a lifetime as you let yourself off a 60m or higher tower and feel your soul almost escape you as wind gusts past your face.
This is maybe the scariest thing one can do for adventure and is not for the faint-hearted.
5.Jet Skiing
If you need a little adrenaline rush on the water, then jet skiing is your sport right here. If you are in Dian, you can book a ride with many available jet ski owners and experience the beautiful view of Diani from the open sea and get to know other fascinating parts of the coast. You can also get to watch dolphins while skiing from a safe distance. You can hire one for as low as $35
6. Cliff Diving
If you love adrenaline, then this is your sport. When cliff diving, you get to plunge about 4-7 metres deep into clear waters. The cliff dive cant be more deeper for safety purposes and there are usually instructors at the vicinity just in case. The closest cliff dive you can visit from Nairobi is in Jangwani Camp in Sagana
7. Paragliding
Paragliding involves foot launching from high ground and gracefully soaring like a bird in the skies and should not be confused with sky diving which involves jumping out of an aeroplane or parasailing which involves being towed by a boat. You need to get strong winds and high ground to jumpstart your glide as it is not motorized in any way. One can glide for hours if the winds are favourable. Some of the best locations to go paragliding are Kijabe, Mt. Ololokwe, Ndoto Mountains and Kerio Valley.
8. Ziplining
This is one hair-raising aerial expedition that will probably make your heartbeat go up. You need to ensure that you wear protective gear, then strap in for an adrenaline-packed ride that delivers the perfect punch to get your pulse racing. You can experience this in many places including The Forest
9. Rock Climbing
You have seen in movies, how actors try scaling up a steep rock, then one of them misses a step and your heart almost pops out? It comes alive here, but it is more secure. Rock climbing in places like Tsavo and Hell’s Gate can test your agility and strength to its core before you get the prize of reaching the top and savouring majestic views.
10. Windsurfing
With its consistent trade winds, Kenya also lets windsurfer hearts beat faster. Windsurfing has a long history in Kenya with Diani being a Mecca for windsurfers in the ’80s and ’90s. Not quite as fast as jet skiing, windsurfing will have you riding the ocean waves on a longboard (looks like a surfboard) attached to a sail with prices from around $ 40-57 for 2 hours.
