TSC Requirements For Teachers Deployment From P1 To JSS

This article focuses on TSC requirements for the deployment of primary school teachers (P1) to junior secondary school (JSS). Teachers Service Commission (TSC) recently announced opportunities for primary school teachers wishing to be deployed to junior secondary school (JSS).

Those who are interested and meet the commission’s requirements are required to apply by 18th March 2024.

TSC Requirements for Deployment of P1 Primary School Teachers to JSS

1. One must have an active registration as a teacher with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

2. Be currently employed as a primary school teacher with TSC.

3. You must not be serving an interdiction or undergoing a disciplinary process.

4. Have a minimum of a Diploma in Education with a minimum of C+ in KCSE (or its equivalent).

5. Have a C+ in two teaching subjects currently being offered in the school curriculum (either under 8-4-4 or CBC) or

Be in possession of 2 principles and 1 subsidiary pass at A level.
At least 8 units in each of the 2 teaching subjects.
Those with a minimum of C (plain) in KCSE or its equivalent and have already undertaken a Diploma in Education together with a Bachelor Degree in Education qualify for the deployment.

6. For those with a degree certificate, it must be a Bachelor of Education.

7. Those with a Bachelor of Education (primary option) are not eligible for the deployment.

Documents Required During Verification Exercise

All candidates are required to avail the following documents during the verification exercise;

Original and copy of the Degree/ Diploma certificate.
Original and copies of academic transcripts.
Original and copy of SNE qualification (where applicable).
Original and copy of KCSE certificate or its equivalent.
Copy of your current payslip.
A declaration from the head of the institution where the teacher is currently serving, showing that he/she is not serving an interdiction or undergoing a disciplinary process.
