The Kenya Water Towers Authority has opened regional offices to ensure that natural reservoirs are protected after identifying new water towers which need urgent conservation.
The water towers are to be fenced so as to avoid encroachment. This comes few weeks after illegal logging and burning of charcoal threatened the existence of many water towers in Kenya including the Mau forest. The Cabinet Secretary for environment Keriako Tobiko gave a go-ahead for the gazettement of all-natural water towers.
Here is a comprehensive list of all the water towers which need urgent conservation.
