This is a guide on how to use the Equity Bank Boostika facility. Boostika is a loan solution that allows Equity Bank customers to complete a transaction even when running low on cash, when using *247#, Equitel or Equity mobile app.
Any Equity customer sending money to mobile wallets or a bank account, paying for goods and services through the One Equity till number or buying airtime and running low on funds gets a Boostika prompt with their limit to complete a transaction.
The Boostika amount is from Kshs 100 to Kshs 100,000 based on your loan limit. It is unsecured with a repayment period of up to 30 days.
The amount can’t be withdrawn. It is only for completing the transaction when you run low on funds, when making a payment, sending money or buying airtime.
How to Qualify for Equity Bank Boostika
- You must be an Equity bank customer.
- You must be sending money or making a payment using *247#, Equitel or Equity mobile app.
- You must have a loan limit to qualify for the boostika option.
- You must have an active account for a period of 6 months and above.
- You should have a good repayment history.
Equity Bank Boostika Charges
- Processing fee (LACE) 5%.
- Insurance 1%.
- Excise duty 20% of LACE.
- Interest of 18% p.a.
How to Apply for Equity Boostika Loan
Application can be done via USSD *247#, Equity Bank mobile app and Equitel.
(a). USSD *247#
The USSD can be used to send money or pay for bills.
(i). How to Pay Bills Using USSD *247#
- Dial *247# on your phone.
- Select paybill.
- Select your Equity account to pay from.
- Select business number.
- Enter account number.
- Enter your PIN.
- Your Boostika limit will be displayed.
- Confirm any additional money required.
- Accept and pay.
(ii). How to Send Money Using USSD *247#
- Dial *247#.
- Select send money.
- Select account to pay from.
- Select account to send to.
- Enter account number.
- Enter amount.
- Enter PIN.
- Your Boostika limit will be displayed.
- Confirm any additional money required.
- Accept and complete the transaction.
(b). Equity Mobile App
The app can be used to pay bills or to send money.
(i). How to Pay Bills Using Equity Mobile App
- Log in to the Equity mobile app.
- Select paybill.
- Select your Equity account to pay from.
- Select business number.
- Enter account number.
- Enter account.
- Enter PIN.
- Your Boostika limit will be displayed.
- Confirm any additional money required.
- Accept and complete the transaction.
(ii). How to Send Money Using Equity Mobile App
- Log in to the Equity mobile app.
- Select send money.
- Select account to pay from.
- Select account to send to.
- Enter account number.
- Enter amount.
- Enter PIN.
- Your Boostika limit will be displayed.
- Confirm any additional money required.
- Accept and complete the transaction.
(c). Equitel
The Equitel STK can also be used to pay bills or send money using Boostika.

- Open the Equitel STK menu.
- Select paybill.
- Select your account to pay from.
- Select business number.
- Enter account number.
- Enter account.
- Enter PIN.
- Your Boostika limit will be displayed.
- Confirm any additional money required.
- Accept and complete the transaction.
(ii). How to Send Money Using Equitel
- Open the Equitel STK menu.
- Select send money.
- Select account to pay from.
- Select account to send to.
- Enter account number.
- Enter amount.
- Enter PIN.
- Your Boostika limit will be displayed.
- Confirm any additional money required.
- Accept and complete the transaction.
