In this article, we cover The Mombasa Hospital’s maternity packages and charges as of 2025. The Mombasa Hospital is located in the Kizingo area of Mombasa City.  Established in 1891, it is the oldest and largest private hospital in the Coastal region of Kenya.

The Mombasa Hospital Maternity Packages and Charges 

a) Antenatal Care Package

Services include:

  • Scheduled visits by the hospital resident obstetrician: Ksh 2,700 per visit

  • Antenatal profile at Ksh 7,000. Includes:
    a) Blood grouping and Rhesus factor
    b) VDRL
    c) HIV testing
    d) Fasting blood sugar
    e) Urinalysis
    f) Hepatitis B screening
    g) Haemoglobin  level

  • 2-3 routine/non-emergency obstetrics ultrasound at Ksh 4,400

  • Supplements

  • Tetanus vaccination

  • Health education about pregnancy, labour, breastfeeding and care of the newborn baby

  • Childbirth education program (Lamaze) – 4 classes at Ksh 600

b) Normal Delivery Package

The normal delivery package covers:

  • Two days (one night) stay.

  • Labour process monitoring, delivery and care after delivery.

  • Routine drugs and surgical items used in the management of labour, delivery and after delivery.

  • Painkillers
  • Expert baby care and rooming in with mothers.

  • Basic vaccinations for your baby at birth: First BCG, Polio, and Hepatitis

  • First examination of your baby by Paediatrician in the nursery. If your baby is sick, there would be additional charges for care given

c) Elective Caesarean Section Package

The cost covers:

  • Your hospitalization up to a maximum of three days (two nights)

  • Theatre charges, Surgeon’s and Anaesthetists’ fees

  • Paediatrician receiving the baby and 2 visits in the ward. If the baby is sick, you will be required to pay for the charges.

  • Cost of routine drugs that will be used during and after the surgery

  • Basic vaccinations for your baby at birth, i.e. First BCG, Polio and Hepatitis B

Note

A deposit of Ksh 50,000 should be paid upon admission, and the rest of the bill settled upon discharge.
